Alicia
“I used other period apps in the past and the data tracking was not straightforward. Clue is straightforward and you can choose which symptoms to track beyond your period. I feel this app has a more whole body approach versus those on the market.”

Your questions, answered
Why should I switch to Clue?

At Clue, we believe everyone with a cycle deserves a period tracker they can trust.

Clue is women-led, backed by science, inclusive, and committed to protecting your data. It’s our mission to empower people to take charge of their menstrual health with confidence and understand more about their body.

We firmly believe that as women and people with cycles, our private health data must serve us and never be used against us. Our app exists to serve our community—not the agendas of advertisers, insurance companies, data brokers, or anyone else.

Switching to Clue is easy and can be done in only a few minutes.

Can I use Clue for free?

Yes, there’s a free version of the app that will always be available. We want the app to be accessible and affordable for everyone, no matter your budget.

To use the app’s premium version, you’ll need to subscribe to Clue Plus. The subscription offers advanced features, modes, and benefits that help you better understand your body and cycle health. The price of Clue Plus varies depending on region.

How does Clue handle data privacy?

Data privacy is at the core of Clue’s values. We know that providing a health tracking app that is secure, private, and trustworthy is a must. It will always be our commitment to protect the privacy of health data, and to be transparent about how we approach data.

Here is what’s most important to know:

  • We will always protect your data, and we are prepared to defend and protect that promise at all costs.
  • Clue has never and will never disclose any member’s private health data to any ad networks.
  • No matter where you are in the world, if you use Clue, your data is protected by the strictest German and European data privacy laws (the GDPR).
  • If we are subpoenaed by any authority demanding access to your data, we will not comply.

You can read more about our commitments to data privacy here. And we encourage you to check out our Privacy Policy, where we explain simply and clearly how Clue handles data processing.

We also believe you should have greater control over what type of data you share. The Clue app gives you this autonomy with granular privacy settings that are clear, easy to use, and customizable.

When you first create your Clue account, you will be asked to set your privacy preferences and given detailed information to help you make your decision. Once you’re using the app, you can change your privacy settings at any time. For more information, see here.

My current tracker knows my cycle already. How long would it take Clue to give accurate predictions?

If you’ve been tracking data with your current app for some time, we understand there may be some hesitancy about changing period trackers. But Clue is set up so that—even from the start—you can get accurate cycle predictions.

It’s very easy to track past period data with our fast tracking feature. Just note down the dates of your last 3 periods (or even more is better) from your old app. Then follow the 5 steps explained above, under the section “Get accurate predictions, from the get-go”.

The Clue algorithm only needs 3 past cycles to calculate your core predictions with accuracy. Core predictions include your period dates, fertile window, and ovulation day. Please note that if you experience irregular cycles, then the algorithm may need more cycle data before becoming precise.

For cycle symptoms, like PMS and cramps, start tracking these experiences in Clue regularly and your predictions will soon follow. You can also manually add data from past cycles by scrolling back in your Clue Calendar View > Double-tapping the date you want to add data > Tracking your symptoms > Tapping ‘Save’.

What about the data on my current tracker?

In most jurisdictions, for example under the GDPR and certain US state laws, you have the right to data portability and can export the data from your current period tracker to keep a copy.

For information on how to export, check out the settings or support pages of your current app. Make sure to export before you delete your account.

Right now, it’s not possible to import such data files directly into Clue. But an import feature could be introduced in the future.
